Idaho St. Review, TCU Preview and Cougar Tipoff

Cougar fans, it's time for another CougarCorner podcast! Scott and Chad are covering all the corners of Cougar sports and have plenty to share about whats going on and whats coming up.

In our first corner the guys discuss the BYU ISU football game. We talk about the good and the bad and as always give our Player of the Game awards. Hint: Riley Nelson from both of us on offense, Kyle Van Noy and Jordan Johnson on defense, and Kyle Van Noy on Special Teams. Listen to find out why we picked who we did.

In the 2nd corner we break down the level of competition and our strength of schedule this year versus last year. We examine some timely similarities and spend a significant amount of time on BYU's struggles against TCU over the last several years.

This leads directly to the 3rd corner, where we preview the BYU TCU game coming up this Friday at 6pm Mountain time. You'll definitely want to hear what we think will be similar to previous games and what will be dramatically different. Does BYU even have a chance in this game? You'll find out here first!

Our 4th corner switches gears to basketball and the Cougar Tipoff, Wednesday at 6pm at the Marriott Center. We talk about the upcoming players and the team. We also have some special things lined up for CougarCorner podcast listeners so make sure you join us.

Finally in our Jimmer Corner we talk about a life free of Jimmer basketball. Not a world either of your podcasters want to live in. So get on the ball, NBA!

Today we change up from our normal 4 corner podcast and harness the power of the triangle! Yes, we have 3 angles to cover in the podcast.

In our first angle we talk about the Oregon State game. An all around great win for the Cougars where the Cougar offense really started to get rolling again. We talk about Riley Nelson, Michael Alisa, Cody Hoffman, Kyle Van Noy and Brandon Ogletree. Lots of great stuff to talk about, including the players of the game: Cody Hoffman and Brandon Ogletree.

Our second point is the Idaho State game preparations and the Cougars opportunity to prepare not only for ISU but possible beyond? We talk about what we may see if and when the Cougars get up. Do the podcasters think that Heaps should play? Lark? Munns? Take a listen and find out.

Because this is our 25th podcast, covering the last 10 months, we cover the 25 biggest Cougar sports stories. It's a great look back at the last 10 months and we hope you enjoy it.

Podcast: SJSU Review, Michael Alisa, OSU Preview, 2nd Half Struggles

We have a great podcast today. We are going to be covering the four most important corners in Cougar sports. Yes, that's right it's the CougarCorner Podcast.

The corners in today's podcast:

1. San Jose State @ BYU Recap
This game had a lot of stories, BYU's offense. Questions about Riley Nelson, the running game and Michael Alisa. The defense and the return of Jordan Pendelton. What BYU did right, where they struggled, and where the Trojans are, and what they can look forward to. We also name our players of the game. Offense: 1 for Riley Nelson, 2 for Michael Alisa; Defense: 1 for Kyle Van Noy, 1 for Jordan Pendelton, and 1 for Brandon Ogletree; Special Teams: unanimous for Justin Sorensen.

2. Running Game Emergence? Michael Alisa
No discussion of the game would be complete without spending some time on the break-out story of the game. Michael Alisa ran roughshod over the SJSU defense. We take a very hard look at what he did, who he did it against, and what to expect in the future.

3. Oregon State Preview
The emergence of Michael Alisa leads to questions about what he can do going forward. There are also questions about what Riley Nelson will do going forward as the bonafide starter of the team. The CougarCorner podcasters point out what BYU needs to do to come away with a win. We also point out things where BYU is vulnerable to watch for in the game. Finally, we end with our predictions.

4. Second Half Struggles
Discussions through the podcast have brought up time and again the struggles we've faced in the 2nd half all season long. It's time to discuss if these are Jake Heaps, Riley Nelson problems or do the roots of the problem lie with the coaching staff, Brandon Doman or even Bronco Mendenhall.

Jimmer Corner
To please the Jimmer, we've turned our attention to his fiance, Whitney who is in line for the Athlon Sideline Spirit Award. Text 'spirit' to 67463 and then vote for Whitney Wonnacott!

We also throw out some props to our Prediction Game winners, congrats!

Utah State Review, QB Conundrums, San Jose St. Preview

Cougar fans, there is a lot of things to talk about in Cougar Nation and we have you covered! Today we cover the four corners of Cougar sports in the CougarCorner podcast.

The corners in today's podcast:

1. Utah State Aggies vs BYU Recap
We cover the story of the game, looking into the special teams, defense, and of course the offense. What BYU did right, where they struggled, and where the Aggies are, and what they can look forward to. We also name our players of the game. Offense: Riley Nelson; Defense: Uona Kaveinga; Special Teams: Ezekiel Ansah, Preston Hadley, and Cody Hoffman.

2. Quarterback Conundrum: Riley Nelson and Jake Heaps
Our last topic leads directly into the topic of the miracle save by Riley Nelson, caused in part by the severe struggles of Jake Heaps. We discuss the dissension on the internet, why fans should come together and how statistically the QB position should be played out in the next game, for the rest of the season, and in the future. This is one segment you will not want to miss.

3. San Jose State Preview
Discussing the future of the QB of course leads to our next game, San Jose State. Is this game a guaranteed easy victory for any QB? Are there dangers to be aware of? The CougarCorner podcasters point out what BYU needs to do to come away with a win. We also point out things where BYU is vulnerable to watch for in the game.

4. The BigXII and BYU
There has been a lot of smoke about BYU and the Big 12. The talk is non-stop and has been for several months. What do you really need to know? What is really going to happen? We cut through the crap and rumors floating around and lay out on the line what we think is really going on.

Jimmer Corner
No CougarCorner podcast is complete without a Jimmer Corner. Today we turn our sights on the NBA lockout and some innovative ways to end the madness.

Bonus Corner
Because we're feeling the groove we threw in a bonus corner tonight, talking about a very serious issue, one that is a serious tragedy. The lack of interest by the Utes and Chris Hill to keep the Holy War Rivalry alive. This is one of the biggest tragedies of the conference realignment nonsense and Utah should be ashamed of their part in letting this great game die.

We also throw out some props to our Prediction Game winners, congrats!
